About Bhavana Mehta

Bhavana says, “Art has been my passion, since my childhood. I preferred the company of my colors and my palette, my brushes and everything that was connected to art and painting. I enjoy the wonderful world of colors and love to experiment with different media. My surroundings inspire me to capture them on paper, but once I start working on a subject, new ideas flow in and I explore newer ways of translating them, using a variety of techniques and material. My themes are based on simplicity, events that are happening around me; my interpretation, therefore, is instinctual, inborn and Nature’s gift”

Bhavana obtained her Diploma in Applied Art (a 5-year course) in 1975 from the Sir J. J. School of Arts, Mumbai. She has extensive experience in the field of commercial art.

She taught art at Udgam School for over a decade. She has run classes for children as well as adults and has helped inculcate a love for art and craft in a large number of artistically inclined people in Ahmedabad. She conducted a workshop on “Creations from papier mache” for children at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. She conducted a workshop on creating collage at IDEAL, a reputed art Institute in Ahmedabad. She was also a member of the jury appointed to evaluate the work of the students at the same institute.
